The University of Science and Technology of China offers the Chinese Government Scholarship for international postgraduate applicants.
Application period: 25 October 2026–20 January 2027.

Scholarship Benefits

- University dormitory or off-campus housing subsidy.
The current scholarship pages do not specify monthly stipend amounts.
Eligibility and Language Requirements
Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a clean criminal record.

Expected graduates must obtain their qualifying degree by July 2027.
Chinese-taught programs require HSK 4 or above, with exemption applications available for eligible Chinese-medium applicants. English-taught programs require IELTS, TOEFL or other English proficiency evidence; native English speakers are exempt. These guides specify no minimum IELTS or TOEFL score.
Required Documents
- Passport, valid through at least September 2028; Chinese visa/residence pages where applicable.
- Notarized degrees and transcripts.
- Expected graduation/student certificate, where applicable.
- Study or research proposal of at least 1,000 words.
- CV.
- Two professor/associate professor recommendations with contact details.
- Language evidence.
- Complete physical examination form issued within six months.
- Non-criminal record certificate.
- Employment evidence and employer’s study permission, if employed.
Provide notarized Chinese or English translations for documents in other languages. USTC may request additional evidence.
How to Apply — CSC First, Then USTC
- Register at the CSC Application System.
- Select Type B, enter 10358, and submit the scholarship application.
- Download the generated CSC application form.
- Register at the USTC Application Portal.
- Select your Master’s or PhD program and Type B Scholarship.
- Upload the CSC form and supporting documents, then submit before the deadline.
A host supervisor is not required when applying online.
Check your email for assessment and document requests. Only one scholarship category may ultimately be awarded.
