East China Normal University (ECNU) has announced its 2027 Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC) Type B opportunity for international graduate students. The scholarship supports full-time Master’s and Doctoral degree studies at one of China’s leading universities, located in Shanghai.
The scholarship provides tuition exemption, on-campus accommodation, a monthly stipend and comprehensive medical insurance.

The following programs are not open for this scholarship:
- School of International Chinese Studies (Master’s and PhD): Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages.
- Asia Europe Business School (Master’s): International Business (Double Degree).
- School of Economics and Management (Master’s): Business Administration, Professional Accounting, Library and Information Studies, International Business, Finance and Digital Economy.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a non-Chinese citizen.
- Must be in good health.
- Must have good academic and personal conduct.
Master’s Applicants:
- Must hold a Bachelor’s degree.
- Must be under 35 years of age.
PhD Applicants:
- Must hold a Master’s degree.
- Must be under 40 years of age.
Language Requirements
Chinese-Taught Programs:
- Liberal Arts and Economics majors: HSK 5 with at least 210 points or HSK 6 with at least 180 points.
- Art, Physical Education and Science majors: HSK 5 with at least 180 points.
English-Taught Programs:
Non-native English speakers must provide one of the following certificates:
- IELTS: 6.0 or above.
- TOEFL: 80 or above (0–120 scale).
- TOEFL iBT: 4.0 or above (0–6 scale).
- Cambridge English C1 Advanced (CAE): 169 or above.
Required Application Documents
Applicants should prepare the following documents:
- Passport information page.
- Highest degree certificate.
- Official academic transcripts.
- Language proficiency certificate.
- Two recommendation letters.
- Personal statement.
- Research achievements, if applicable.
- Research proposal for PhD applicants.
- Recent passport-size photograph.
- Award certificates, if applicable.
- Foreigner Physical Examination Form.
- Non-Criminal Record Certificate.
The personal statement should be at least 1,000 words for Master’s applicants and 1,500 words for Doctoral applicants.
Scholarship applicants must provide valid health and non-criminal certificates issued within six months.

The application fee is 800 RMB, which is non-refundable.

Complete the CSC application and submit the required information.
Step 3: Application Review
ECNU will conduct an initial eligibility review. Qualified applications will be evaluated by the relevant school or department. Interviews may be arranged if necessary.
Step 4: Final Admission
Final admission decisions will be based on comprehensive evaluation. Successful applicants will receive their admission documents and information about registration.
