Yanshan University CSC Scholarship 2027-2028 – High-Level Postgraduate Program in China (Master’s & PhD)

Yanshan University has announced the 2027-2028 Chinese Government Scholarship – High-Level Postgraduate Program for international students. Applications are invited for Master’s and PhD degree programs starting in September 2027.

This is a full scholarship program established by the Chinese Ministry of Education. A total of 5 scholarships are available, with preference given to PhD applicants.

• Full tuition fee waiver.

  • Master’s students: 3,000 RMB.
  • PhD students: 3,500 RMB.

Master’s Degree Programs

PhD Degree Programs

Priority: Applicants in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), as well as Economics and Management, will receive priority consideration.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

1. Must be a non-Chinese citizen holding a valid foreign passport and be in good physical health.
2. Must be at least 18 years old.
3. For Master’s applicants:
   • Must hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
   • Generally, applicants should be under 35 years of age.
4. For PhD applicants:
   • Must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent.
   • Generally, applicants should be under 40 years of age.

Language Requirements

Chinese-taught programs:

• HSK Level 4 or above is required.

English-taught programs:
Applicants from countries where English is not an official language of their mother tongue must provide an English proficiency certificate, such as:

• IELTS 6.0 or above, with no individual band below 5.5.
• TOEFL 85 or above, with no individual section below 20.
• GRE 300 or above.
• Duolingo 95 or above.
• Alternatively, proof that the highest previous degree was taught in English.

Applicants must also satisfy at least one of the university’s additional academic or language qualifications.

Additional Academic Requirements

For Master’s applicants, at least one of the following conditions must be met:

• Undergraduate academic average above 80.
• Bachelor’s thesis rated Good or above.
• HSK 5 or above for Chinese-taught programs, or IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 85, Duolingo 105 or equivalent for English-taught programs.
• Published work or articles as first or corresponding author in recognized publications.

For PhD applicants, at least one of the following conditions must be met:

• Master’s academic average above 80.
• Master’s thesis rated Good or above.
• HSK 5 or above for Chinese-taught programs, or IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 85, Duolingo 105 or equivalent for English-taught programs.
• Published high-level academic papers as first or corresponding author in academic journals.

Required Application Documents

Applicants must prepare the following documents:

1. Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form.
2. Passport home page.
3. Notarized highest degree certificate.
4. Academic transcripts from undergraduate studies onwards.
5. Chinese or English language proficiency certificate.
6. Study plan of more than 1,000 words.
7. Two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors.
8. Foreigner Physical Examination Form.
9. Non-criminal record certificate.
10. Personal portfolio (for applicants in art and design-related programs).
11. Supervisor Acceptance Letter.

Important: The doctoral study plan must be signed by the Chinese supervisor. All uploaded documents must be clear, authentic and valid. The university does not accept photographs taken by mobile phones or cameras, or ordinary photocopies, in place of high-definition scanned original documents.

Application Procedure

Applicants must complete the application through both the Chinese Government Scholarship system and Yanshan University’s online application system.

Step 1: Apply through the CSC Online Application System

Select the appropriate scholarship program and enter the following agency number:

Complete the application form and upload the required documents.

Step 2: Contact a Supervisor

Applicants must independently contact a potential supervisor at Yanshan University and obtain a Supervisor Acceptance Letter.

Step 3: Apply through Yanshan University’s Online Application System

Complete the university application and upload high-definition scanned copies of the required documents.

Note: Applicants must register and submit their applications through both online systems.

Step 4: Application Review and Interview

The university will conduct an initial review of application documents, followed by academic evaluation and online interviews.

Step 5: Final Selection

Nominated applicants will proceed to the CSC review process. The final scholarship results will be officially announced by the university.

Additional Information

Applicants who are not selected for this High-Level Postgraduate Scholarship may be considered for transfer to the Yanshan University President’s Scholarship Program after passing the university’s review.

Scholarship recipients are required to follow the university’s registration and scholarship regulations.
